Advancing corporate sustainable development through ESG practices: Evidence from the case of Aeon Delight Vietnam

In the context of Vietnam’s efforts to advance its international commitments to sustainable development and transition toward a new growth model, the private sector is expected not only to ensure business and production efficiency but also to demonstrate social responsibility and adopt a long-term development orientation. This paper examines the relationship between corporate governance effectiveness and the set of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, seeking to address the question of whether integrating ESG practices into a company’s operational strategy can enhance its governance capacity in accordance with current best practices. The correlation between these two dimensions will be elucidated through a case study of AEON Delight Vietnam, thereby validating the hypothesis regarding the reciprocal relationship between ESG practices and corporate governance capacity, competitiveness, brand image enhancement, and the promotion of sustainable business development.
